The caves are known primarily for their fascinating underground canyon, but the story of how they came to be discovered in the 19th century is just as incredible.In this book we trace the bold and imaginative penetration into the unknown depths of the karst underground world by Trieste cavers and local residents, into which they descended in wooden boats with torches in their hands.
