The Seven Mechanical Arts : Navigation

In medieval times, the Seven Mechanical Arts were formalized to complement the Seven Liberal Arts of the first century A.D. One of these original seven of what we now call "engineering" arts, is the ancient and crucial art of navigation. Orientation by sea, land, air, and more is the very basic of survival. Learn the history of our understanding and the tools we used throughout the centuries (and still use today) to find our way in this world.
