First published in 1996. This book presents a new theoretical and practical model for early intervention: the Mediational Intervention for Sensitizing Caregivers (MISC).

Aid agencies including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and Redd Barna supported research projects on the implementation of this approach with poor, high-risk children in various countries.

This book presents reasons for implementation, processes of intervention, and some outcomes of the MISC approach in six countries: Israel, Sweden, USA, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia.
