Realdata : Data and Exercises for Finance and Economics

This book/disk pack provides real-world data in a consistent format to support the study of finance, economics and statistics.

The data are commpanied by a user manual fully describing the data and poses exercises for students.

A solutions manual is also available. The disk includes almost 700 monthly and quarterly financial and economic time series covering the post-World War II period.

All of the data series are contained in WK1 format spreadsheets for consistency of presentation and ease of access.

All data files can be used by all major spreadsheets products, including Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro Pro and Microsoft Excel. The accompanying text includes a complete description of each data series, and contains more than 100 exercises that can be completed using the data contained in "Realdata".

The exercises are typically spreadsheet programs. These exercises differ widely in the kinds of activity that they require. "Realdata" features data on the Federal Reserve, federal financing, the stock and bond markets, stock market activity and trends, the money markets, foreign exchange, federal taxation and expenditures, indicators of the business cycle, national income and product accounts, inventories, industrial production, wages and incomes.
