On January 11, 1980, the EKiR Synod passed its synodal decision "To Renew the Relationship between Christians and Jews".

As she said at the time, she took "a crucial first step in a learning process mandated by all of us".

After 25 years, an interim review should look back at what has been achieved so far and new impulses from the theological debate from previous years should be included.

They aim at the Trinitarian speech of the One God of Israel, its biblical foundation and orientation, measured by the First Commandment and by the "Hear Israel, the Lord our God is One" (Mk 12,29f).

The volume contains three parts. The first, as a historical documentary part, documents effects that the synodal decision triggered within and outside the Rhenish church.

It starts with the documentation and evaluation of a survey that the Rhenish church organized on the effects of the decision.

This is followed by contributions to statements from other EKD member churches, from the Leuenberg church community and from the Roman Catholic Church on effects in society as well as a Jewish voice.

The middle section is dedicated to the central theological theme of the Trinity.

It contains contributions from the biblical disciplines, church history and systematic theology, as well as a contribution that broadens the horizon and takes into account the relationship between Christians and Muslims on the basis of the synodal decision.

The last, practice-related part takes stock of what has already been practiced, identifies deficits and projects future projects.

He asked what the decision had in the EKiR's offices and facilities.
