The book begins with a brief history of the measurement of time, then explains what the hands of a clock actually mean.

Felix contributes throughout, from a demonstration of an ancient water clock to the metaphor of cake quarters, one of which he eats, to show children how an hour can be divided.

Each of the sturdy pages is die-cut so that children can adjust the hands of a clock on the last page, putting into practice what they've just learned.

The second half of the book begins with Sophie and her family getting up in the morning, eating breakfast, going to school or work, and so on.

Young readers can move the clock hands to the appropriate time of day, right up to bedtime.

Learning about time has never been so fun, and the hands-on element teaches children by involving them directly in a fundamental part of everyday life.
