'South Korea's Education Exodus' frames Early Study Abroad (ESA) of pre-college youth in relation to the neoliberalization of South Korean education and labour.

With chapters based on demographic and survey data, discourse analysis and ethnography in various ESA destinations, including Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States, the book considers the complex motivations that spur families to embark on often arduous and expensive journeys.

In addition to examining the various forms and locations of study abroad, it discusses the ways in which these students and their families manage living and studying abroad.
