Localities in the UK - Additional CD-ROMs

Channel 4's "Seeing Geography" CD-ROMs feature the best TV clips from Channel 4's archive of geography programmes for primary schools.

Pupils can explore the main features of settlements and the various environmental and economic issues surrounding them.

The examples are from a range of locations throughout the UK including: York, London, Glasgow, Isle of Skye, Shetland Isles, Braemar, Belfast, Derry, Wrexham, Leicester, Cumbria, East Anglia and North Wales.

The examples can be used to illustrate geographical patterns and processes common to many places and also as comparative material to contrast with other places being studied.

The topics covered are: Different places; Just the job; Shopping around; Getting there; and Weather.

With each completed topic, the pupils become a bus driver, avoiding trees, traffic cones and road works, using their newly acquired knowledge to help them collect tickets.
