"The Women of Saint Germain: Tour of Duty

The first book of The Women of Saint Germain Series is a historical romance loosely based on the experiences and events of the author's family during WWIII in France.

The Cannet family lives in the farming village of Saint Germain in Alsace-Lorraine. After graduation, Simone lives with her aunt and grandmother in Nancy. She finds work at the factory to help her family.

Soon the war escalates as German troops begin marching across the region, causing the citizens of France to flee their homes. Not long before, a platoon comes through San Germain, and they take over the village for its strategic location. After an altercation with a soldier, Simone's father escapes for safety. Now alone with the enemy, Simone's mother must survive the harsh winters and starvation.

These are narratives of the Cannet family's encounters with the horror of war and the cruelties of the enemy. They will do whatever is necessary to feed and protect their children. Simone's father joins the French Resistance as Simone tries to return home to help her mother. Simone dances with friends and meets a doctor who has joined her father's team of resistors. She cares for him but discovers there is a traitor among them. There are family secrets to uncover. There is tragedy and love found and lost.

Some persons act dishonorably, some are traitors, and others become heroes serving their country. When hope is nearly gone, the United States of America enters the war to help the people of France regain their beloved country. They will fight alongside the Americans with faith and renewed optimism to end the war. Simone and her sisters will find that even during wartime, one can fall in love.
