Over 300 photographs are featured in this book and they show why Glasgow truly is a City Beautiful.

The book looks at several elements of Glasgow's history, lifestyle and architecture.

Firstly, it has a look at Glasgow's history including how the Romans colonised Glasgow during the period 142-165 AD.

It covers life in and around Glasgow Green and then takes the reader through the Glasgow University building, its cloisters and sculptures, and it captures the landmark tower from many viewpoints throughout the city.

The city boasts many famous architects, including Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Alexander (Greek) Thomson, and the book looks at their most important works and that of other famous architects.

You are then taken along Glasgow's famous streets in the city centre and the west end, including the famous Sauchiehall Street, Buchanan Street and Byres Road.

Then onto the Centre of Glasgow, George Square, with its many statues and the Glasgow City Chambers.

The book explores parts of Glasgow which are relatively unknown, including Garnethill and the Italian Centre. It also visits the many parks of Glasgow, the famous Botanic Gardens and the Kibble Palace, Kelvingrove Park and its many fountains and statues, and Victoria Park with its aforementioned Fossil Grove.

Finally, the book covers the two main rivers, the famous Clyde and the Kelvin, and the Forth and Clyde Canal.

If you are a Glasgow citizen, one of its challenges will be to recognise a favourite haunt and if you are a visitor, it will be to discover how beautiful this city really is.
