Born in 1869, Charlotte Mew was the daughter of an architect, and lived most of her life in and around Bloomsbury.

Admired by Thomas Hardy and other distinguished contemporaries she wrote sparingly.

She committed suicide in 1928. This collection of her poetry provides a biographical introduction.
