A sequel to "Poles in America", published 20 years ago, this new work includes essays written by scholars in Poland, now made available by the many changes that have occurred there since 1977.

The contributors address several issues, including the ways in which "Polonia", or the Polish American community, can aid Poland's struggle to come to terms with the free market; Poland's role in the next century; Poland's membership in NATO and the effects it might have on economic gains made thus far; and Poland as a market for American arms manufacturers.
