Who are the Europeans now?

An exploration of the current evolution of European identity in the light of: transnational migration within and into Europe; the persistence of ethnic/regional/religious differences within Europe; the challenge of coalescence between Eastern and Western Europe; and the ambiguous role of national frontiers in both defining and overcoming the salience of national differences.

The book challenges the orthodox view that European integration is eroding national identity.

It suggests that the whole European project may be in danger if a genuine new citizenship at the EU level is not created.
