War in High Himalaya : Indian Army in Crisis, 1962

The circumstances attending the Indian army's disastrous military campaign following China's invasion of India's Himalayan borders in 1962 are still little understood, due largely to restrictions placed by the Indian government on access to its official archives.

This study examines the ad hoc nature of Indian decision-making at prime ministerial and cabinet levels, the army's operational and intelligence blunders and the over-reach of government into military responsibilities.
