Patient hotels : a quality alternative to ward care, a study conducted by the NHS Management Executive's Value for Money Unit

See all formats and editions

Hospital clinicians and managers have realized for some time that not all patients who are admitted to hospital for treatment need the full facilities and resources of a ward for all or part of their stay.

This report is based on a study of the patient hospital opened in Sweden, at University Hospital, Lund, and identifies the potential benefits and constraints of accommodating patients in a patient hotel as an alternative to a hospital ward.

It will help management in deciding whether to invest in such facilities, and what ground rules should be observed.
