In 1998, the graveyards in the market town of Hyde had some unusual early-morning visitors.

Greater Manchester Police were exhuming the bodies of the elderly patients of a local doctor.

The doctor concerned had been their GP for 21 years and had a reputation as the best in the area.

But, Dr. Harold Shipman was also a serial killer. A public inquiry spent nearly four years investigating Dr Shipman's crimes.

They traced them back more than 30 years and calculated the number of murders he committed to be in the region of 260.
