Music education : trends and issues

In this collection of papers, the contributors consider in a critical and reflective manner a variety of issues which are frequently debated by music educationists at the present time.

This includes the relationship between research and classroom practice; curriculum control and curriculum development; music education in a pluralist society; gender and music teaching; music and the new technology.

The five articles are not set against the background of a preconceived framework for policy and practice.

They are presented as discussion documents and as such may provide starting points for further study and professional dialogue.
