Ben and The Bomb Fire is an illustrated children's book and animated DVD aimed at 3-7 year olds. It is episode 1 of The Adventures of Ben Labra d'Ollie, a series of stories that feature Ben, a big black dog, and his friends.

Ben, the reluctant hero, is gentle and funny and keen to stay out of trouble. Set on November 5th, this enchanting story features Ben on his mission to find the perfect ball.

While he is searching for a ball he has lost, he makes a worrying discovery at the bottom of the garden.

Ben isn't brave and he isn't fearless but he has to help his new friend.

Will they get home safely? Will there be sausages for tea? The ten-minute DVD tells the delightful story in photo-realistic animation, which makes the characters come to life in the familiar surroundings of a family garden. The DVD features a specially-commissioned score by American composer Jean Hasse. In Ben and the Bomb Fire, author and illustrator have combined a beautifully illustrated book and high quality animation to make a unique children's entertainment.

The intelligent story is well paced with moments of drama and excitement interspersed with humour and wit. They have created a setting for the action that conveys warmth and safety and a feeling that everything really will be all right in the end.
