"Sex and Gender: Student Projects and Exercises", consists of observational projects, individual and small group exercises, and self-tests appropriate for supplementing primary and undergraduate texts in Psychology of Gender, Psychology of Women, and Women's Studies.

It will also be of interest to faculty teaching Research Methods and Introductory Psychology who wish to place a greater emphasis on issues of gender.

This workbook is the first of its kind - there are currently no student activity workbooks available to supplement primary texts in these courses.

Each project or exercise encourages students to engage in critical thinking about psychological constructs, theoretical issues, and empirical research in sex and gender.

A discussion of the interaction of race and ethnicity, social class, and sexual orientation in the construction of gender is integrated throughout the text. The topics include: sex and gender as psychological constructs, the social construction of masculinity and femininity, how to critically evaluate research investigating gender differences, the intersection of racism, sexism, and heterosexism, and the role of social and interpersonal power in the lives of men and women.
