The Southern WaySpecial issue no. 10,: SC Townroe's journey in steam

The latest Special Issue in the Southern Way series is a new departure and provides a life and times look at the work of a professional railwayman who also took plenty of photographs during his time on the railway.

What sets Stephen Townroe apart from many of his contemporaries is that he would record in both colour and black and white the incidents and events in which he was involved from around 1940 right through to the early 1960s. Items covered include the trails of the first rebuilt 'Merchant Navy' class, accidents and derailments, test workings on various routes as well as a record of the new and the last of the old. This is a book that Noodle Books are very proud to be involved with and are delighted and privileged to be able to bring the content to a wider audience.
