Still running : children on the streets in the UK

This report reveals that many young people, from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are thrown out of home by their parents.

It draws on a sample of over 13,000 young people in 27 diferent areas.

The sale of the research makes it possible to provide the first accurate estimates of the incidence of young people under 16 going missing, as well as substantial insights into the phenomenon. For young people who are looked after, family factors preceding care, as welL as elements of the care itself, appear to cause these young people to run away.

The report conludes with recommendations for practical measures and changes in policy to help this highly vulnerable group of young people.
