Written for first- and second-year medical students and beginning graduate students, this is a concise review of clinically-relevant aspects of kidney function.

The content of the book was derived from a series of lectures for first-year medical students.

To help students focus their efforts, the authors have selected the most clinically relevant facts and concepts from the body of knowledge on renal physiology and pathophysiology. "Clinical considerations" paragraphs appear throughout the text to emphasize the connection between physiology and disease.

Illustrations are used to clarify key concepts, and multiple choice study questions with annotated answers appear at the end of the book.

Also included is a list of textbooks on renal physiology and pathophysiology for supplementary reading.
