Israel Studies in Criminology - v. 3

See all formats and editions

This ongoing series, published under the auspices of the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Law of Tel Aviv University, documents the changes taking place in the field of criminology and the new undercurrents continually surfacing.

The editor shows that criminological research has become emeshed in two issues.

First, research has become increasingly bifurcated into action-oriented research and etiological theorizing; the so-called "new criminology" has caused some ripples, especially among radically oriented students.

Second, most current approaches to the study and prevention of crime and deviance are being undertaken from a multidisci-plinary but undisciplined position. Efforts are being made to promote an interdisciplinary approach to criminology.

The idea is to break the semantic barriers among the various disciplines and ultimately to synchronize the various levels of analysis into a continuous, homogeneous model.
