Turkey between Europe and Asia

While Turkey is now "knocking at the door of Brussels" and many aspects of modern Turkish life are indeed European, other aspects underline the historical distance of Asia Minor from developments in the European continent.

With eight contiguous states, Turkish foreign policy is inevitably multi-faceted.

It is also open to potentially conflicting priorities, especially in a period when other states' geopolitical interests are changing.

One of the suggestions in this report is that by concentrating on the settlement of the Cyprus question and domestic, issues such as inflation, Turkey might enhance its European standing and attract more sustainee levels of investment.
