Memorial volumes are books dedicated to cities, towns and villages, mainly in Central and Eastern Europe, whose Jewish population was annihilated during the Holocaust.

Published by organizations of Jewish survivors, their cheif aim is to record for posterity the history of the localities before World War II, the events that led to their destruction and the fate of the individuals who inhabited them.

This fully indexed bibliography brings together some 300 memorial books drawn mainly from the Hebrew collection of the British Library.

In the main sequence of the work, entries are arranged in place name order and each includes a copious bibliographic description and references to relevant sources.

The titles of individual books appear both in Hebrew script and Roman transliteration.
