The film follows Hirosuke Hitomi (Teruo Yoshida), a medical student who manages to escape from the asylum where he had been wrongfully held.

Now on the run, Hirosuke assumes the identity of a recently deceased man with whom he bears an uncanny resemblance.

After managing to trick the dead man's wife into letting him into her home, Hirosuke begins to have visions of a remote island and decides to head there to investigate.

However, shortly after arriving he meets a mysterious mad scientist and is soon forced to confront some sinister truths from his own dark past.
