The UNCTAD Investment Policy Reviews (IPRs) are intended to help countries improve their investment policies and familiarise governments and the international private sector with an individual's country's investment environment.

The Investment Policy Review of Nigeria, initiated at the request of the Government, was carried out through a fact-finding mission in October 2005.

The report is divided into 4 chapters and looks at the following areas: chapter 1 - provides an overview of FDI trends and performance; chapter 2 - analyses the investment framework; chapter 3 - outlines a strategy of 'supported market forces' to induce and support foreign affiliates in manufacturing to increase their presence in the country and their contribution to Nigeria's development; and, chapter 4 - summarises the main findings of the report and the proposed policy recommendations.
