15 Minute Phonics Guide

The Letterland 15 Minute Phonics guide provides a series of 15-minute, interactive, whole class lessons which fulfil the word level objectives of the National Literacy Strategy framework.Each lesson in this guide provides focused phonic activities for 15 minutes of whole class teaching.

These activities, together with essential teaching points about letter shape and sound, will guide children through the early stages of phonic development.The first 32 lesson plans focus on developing children's knowledge of grapheme/phoneme correspondences so that they are able to read and write the letters that represent the sounds a-z (in upper and lower case), ch, sh and th.

The remaining lesson plans consolidate and extend children's knowledge of these sounds by focusing on consonant blends.
