The Silent Enemy

William Fairchild directs this 1950s British action drama set during the Second World War.

In 1941 newly appointed bomb disposal lieutenant Lionel 'Buster' Crabb (Laurence Harvey) joins the British naval fleet at Gibraltar just as two battleships are destroyed by Italian manned torpedoes off Alexandria.

Crabb sets about forming a team of divers to battle the mini submarines which are threatening Allied shipping, and soon forms the suspicion that the Italians are working out of neutral Spain.

When he is refused permission to go after them, Crabb decides to disobey orders and launches his own commando raid.
