Three years after her diagnosis for breast cancer, Sharon Rose was at rock bottom.

Although she was in the depths of unhappiness and despair, she now had the added responsibility of looking after her granddaughter, Erica, and it was this that prompted her to sign up for a course of cognitive therapy.

From that day on she began to turn her life around. For Sharon, the trauma of breast cancer had been compounded by the death of her brother, the break-up of her relationship, the responsibilities of single-motherhood and an acute shortage of money.

Now Sharon is smiling again. She has learnt to see something positive in the most desperate situations, and she hopes that her story will give strength and hope to those who are suffering and help them once more to celebrate the gift of life.
