The influence of mental health on lifestyle medicine lies at the intersection of psychiatry, health psychology, and behavioral medicine. It is now well established that lifestyle factors play a key role in developing, preventing, managing, and treating a wide array of diseases and associated physical health problems. This book provides information on these topics.

There exists a need of training in lifestyle medicine among medical providers. If this proposed work was appropriately addressed during medical training and continuing education, the quality of patient care could significantly improve. The timing of this book is excellent given the rapid expansion of our understanding of the inter-relation between mental and physical health, along with the relatively poor performance of current medical interventions among the health problems that will be discussed in the book. The marketability of the book could be high given that medical training has begun to incorporate some of the information on lifestyle medicine, but not to the level that this book would provide.

Market to clinicians, including primary care physicians and those practicing in specialized areas, physicians in training, and physician educators. In addition, advance practice clinicians (physician assistants, advance practice nurses) may find the content useful. Clinician-scientists and instructors teaching lifestyle medicine are also part of the target audience. Psychiatrists and psychologists often may also benefit from the book as they often are not aware of many of the concepts presented in the proposed book, particularly related to the rapidly emerging field of lifestyle medicine. It could also be used as a required or recommended book for a course or seminar in lifestyle medicine or behavioral medicine.
