Predicting Farm Production & Catchment Processes : Directory of Australian Models & Modelling Groups

See all formats and editions

This directory is a compendium of relevant models that are available to understand and predict the effects of dryland farming on land and water condition.

It seeks to include information on relevant models available and/or the groups developing them.

Some irrigation models have been included as they simulate processes relevant to the overall theme of the directory.

Also included are mathematical models which have been developed, and in particular those for which a main aim in their development has been their use (or use of model outputs) by others.

Expert Systems or Decision Support Systems (DSSs) which incorporate mathematical models but which are designed for use by land managers and those without a scientific background, are much more appropriate for use by many people within the rural sector.

Consequently some of the current Expert Systems and DSSs which contain models, and which are relevant to dry land farming and/or catchment management, have also been included in the book.

In some instances, an exception has been made and DSSs have been described which do not contain mathematical models.
