See all formats and editions

Presents the pictures that define the photojournalist George Rodger's long career.

The text includes a commentary on his life and work including such events as his experiences as the only photographer present at the liberation of Belsen and his decision to join Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Seymour and Robert Capa in founding the picture-agency Magnum Photos.

It also covers his 1948 expedition from Cape Town to Cairo by road on a journey which led him to create images of African tribes almost untouched by European influences.
