This manual has been written specifically for hospital and health centre workers in developing countries who require training and guidance in medical laboratory procedures.

Each volume is written in clear English, supported by extensive illustration and covered with a protective plastic wallet. Volume one includes an introduction to the laboratory with recommendations about quality assurance, safety and equipment.

The sections on anatomy and physiology, parasitology and clinical chemistry have been updated for this second edition, and greater emphasis has been placed on the major parasitic diseases such as malaria, filariasis, African trypanosomiasis, Chagas' disease, leishmaniasis and schistosomiasis.

Other new features are the inclusion of summary method sheets of important clinical chemical tests and of fifty-six colour plates.
