'Jacob, the Famous Goose', is a true story which takes place in Canada from 1838.

A Coldstream guard called John, who is in Quebec province to keep the peace, rescues the goose from a fox.

The goose adopts the regiment and learns to march, goose-stepping, and stand at attention along with the guards.

One night several French Patriotes are sneaking up to kill the guard on duty who happens to be John.

Jacob sees them and flies into their faces, honking loudly, which warns the guards.

Jacob receives a gold collar for saving livesWhen the regiment returns to London, they take Jacob with them.

He continues his duties in the Portman Street Barracks..He joins in the 'Changing the Guard' and 'Trooping the Colour.' He becomes famous and is visited by the Duke of Wellington, the local children, nannies, etc, The Royal Family see him from their residences: Windsor, Buckingham, and St.

James. After his death, Jacob is given a funeral with full military honours.His head is preserved and on show (attached to another goose's body) in a glass cabinet at the H.Q. of the Coldstream Guards, London.
