Anthony Browne's popular chimp, Willy, returns, this time to exchange his famous knitted sweater for a soccer strip, because Willy loves football and longs for glory on the field.

But Willy can't afford his own football boots and so he doesn't make the team.

Then one evening while he is walking past the old pie factory something happens which changes Willy's life. . . and he gets his longed for chance to shine. At the very last minute, disaster threatens. What will happen to Willy? As always with Anthony Browne there is underlying seriousness beneath the fun of Willy's football adventure.
