The new inspection framework is 'a radical departure' from the previous one, says the author of "Inspection and Accountability".

Not only is the 'school the inspector', but the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda have become the yardstick against which a school's performance is measured.

The key to today's inspection is the self-evaluation form (SEF).

It's something the school must complete, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, documenting them convincingly and showing an action plan for improvement.
