The second edition of this comprehensive and authoritative dictionary takes into account recent advances in medicine, technology and pharmacology.

Revised by a team of 50 consultants under the general editorship of Macdonald Critchley, it contains over 8,000 new entries. The work has been reset in a modern style and particular attention has been paid to the design of the introductory material so that the dictionary can be sued to its fullest advantage.

This includes guidance on differences between British and American spelling, which are dealt with by repetition where necessary.
