The problem of minority performance in organisations

There is increasing evidence from the literature on research into race in organizations which suggests that although employers have made considerable strides to improve representation of minority ethnic employees, they have been less successful in ensuring that their procedures and practices do not contribute to discrimination in the workplace.

This research brief concentrates on one of the key determinants of progression within organizations - the performance management process, and explores the literature on the relationship between ethnicity and performance in order to understand the issues that may contribute to the frequently observed under-performance of minority ethnic employees
