Bristol Riots is a photographic collection documenting the original protests against the siting of a Tesco store in the 'People's Republic of Stokes Croft' in Bristol and the riots that broke out when police raided a squat opposite the store. Police moved in with with horses and dogs in the early evening and the ensuing riot spread into Montpelier and St Pauls.

The police eventually retreated in the early hours of the morning leaving the rioters to trash the Tesco Express store. Where the national media failed to report the event that night, the news of the riot spread via social networks providing an up-to-date view into the riot and its effects on Stokes Croft.

This digital journalism sits alongside the elegant photography of the event allowing for an insight into the unfolding of the riot. The riot is the dialectic between the squat and the supermarket, standing opposite each other lie two extremes of socio-spatiality architecture, and at the centre is the riot.
