Dans un quartier de Paris is a multimedia documentary on CD-ROM that allows learners to explore French culture through the discovery of a particular neighborhood in Paris -- Le Marais -- within a rich, interactive context. Through their gradual and diverse explorations of places, people, and issues, students will develop first-hand insights into the neighborhood and, by extension, into the larger French cultural experience.

In video interviews and virtual tours of the quarter, students will meet people who have lived and worked in the neighborhood and listen to their personal stories and histories. Using maps, a guidebook, and linguistic aids designed to help them understand what they see and hear, they will enter stores and cafes, walk along streets, and experience the sights and sounds of Le Marais. At the same time, they will gain an understanding of the issues that have shaped and defined this uniquely French cultural space, un quartier.

The CD-ROM is accompanied by a Teacher's Guide, which provides step-by-step language lab and follow-up classroom activities. A Student Activities Workbook is sold separately. These books co-authored with Sabine Levet.
