Synopsis of Herpetofauna of Mexico - v. VII : Bibliographic Addendum IV and Index, Bibliographic Addenda II-IV, 1979-1991

Although this index volume has been patterned after the previous index (vols.

III and IV of this series, covering all early literature through about 1973), a number of rather major changes have here been introduced.

For example, we give the author name or names for each work cited under any scientific name, in addition to its identification number and pages; the earlier index omitted author names.

Addition of author names should vastly speed immediate recognition of works of interest.

We at the same time have simplified the index by omitting mention of illustrations and states from which any given species-group taxon was mentioned.

We found that such listing was misleading if taken at face value, since some of the 'state records' were really unacceptable even though published.
