See all formats and editions

Karlheinz Weinberger is one of the most important forerunners of the "aesthetic of the authentic".

Decades before Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, Terry Richardson and William Billingham, it was Weinberger who roamed through the underground of his home town Zurich as an amateur photographer.

In the 1940s, he began to photograph for the "Kreis", the first international homosexuals' magazine, and has then become a chronicler of the outsiders and outlaws.

In 2001, at the age of more than 80, he still portrayed the beauties of the Street Parade.
