When a mysterious explosion destroys a huge chunk of the ship and kills everyone on board, her survival is abruptly thrust into her own hands. And she has no idea what to do about it until she finds an unexpected friend-an irreverent young man with green skin. He says his name is Lowkey, and he pretends not to care about anything at all. But Seren soon learns he holds many agonizing secrets, including the existence of a beautiful blue girl named Shade who he keeps hidden away as she languishes in a coma on the brink of death.

The loss of her comfortable life is only the beginning of Seren's problems. Her entire worldview is again thrown into upheaval when a strange enemy reveals itself, bringing with it a flood of devastating truths about her origins that she doesn't want to hear. And its murderous intent is based on a dark history she never even realized she had.
