Newly married and disillusioned with his job in Bristol CID, DS Vic Hallam has been thinking of leaving it all behind for a quiet life fishing in South Dorset.

But lately, trouble has been brewing along the idyllic coastline - drug abuse, gang fighting and street violence - and when the disembowelled body of a young woman is found, Vic's belligerent boss has enough.

He sends Vic and his partner on an undercover operation to infiltrate the seedy underbelly of Southern England's escalating drugs trade.

A second brutal murder catapults the two headlong into one of the largest and most profitable drug runs in the South West.
