After telling Kris that I wanted to write something for his book, I had second thoughts because it is sometimes still too fresh in my mind even after eleven years have passed.

It was so hard to take in that my eighty-four -year-old mother died as the result of a car crash, but out of this horrible tragedy Brandi came to us to be Will's stepmom.

I honestly do not know where we would be today with Will had this not happened the way it did.

The fact is my mom had diabetes with organs beginning to fail, and I think she would be so pleased to know that what happened to her gave Will a wonderful stepmom and a better chance for a good life.

Brandi's coming to us gave Kris what he needed to become the dad to Will and his girls that he was meant to be.

Kris' dad and I are so proud of the parents that Kris and Brandi are today and what they are doing to help others.

As a matter-of-fact we are so thankful that both of our sons and their wives have stepped up and done what great parents do while facing adversity.

We do know at many times this has been extremely difficult.

We and all of our grandchildren are blessed, and we truly believe it is God's Will.
