Cultural contexts of modern law : the contributions of German thought

Introduces the work of major German theorists whose work has not yet been either understood or assimilated into Anglo-American legal scholarship.

The theorists examined are Hegel, Nietzsche, Heidegger and Husserl.

The work of each is shown to shed new light upon the questions of how modern law is to be understood within a cultural context characterized by a crisis in its very foundations.
