My Australian Prince sets itself mainly in Western Australia's ruggedly beautiful and antique Kalgoorlie-Boulder, the enchanting Archipelago of the Recherche on the Southern Ocean, and the delicate splendour of Paris outskirts of antiquity. Alain James Goldenbough, endowed with magnetic handsomeness and intelligence, is born in 1960 into Western Australia's richest family.

Their wealth emanates from the 1893 Gold Rush of the famed mining twin-towns of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
