THE DISCIPLES AT SAIS

Translated by F.V.M.T. and U.C.B. (Una Birch)

Edited by Carol Appleby

This book features the short novella The Disciples At Sais (Die Lehrlinge zu Sais, also known as The Novices of Sais) by the German Romantic writer Novalis (Friedrich von Hardenberg, 1772-1801). Also included is the fairy tale by Novalis, The Story of Hyacinth and Roseblossom (also known as Hyacinth and Rose Petal).

Novalis is the most mystical of the German Romantic poets. He is at once the most typical and the most unusual of the German Romantic writers, indeed, of all Romantic poets. His best known work, Hymnen an die Nacht (Hymns To the Night), was published in 1800.

This edition of The Disciples At Sais includes an introduction to the work of Novalis.

With bibliography and notes. Illustrated. 92 pages.
