Since entering his eighth decade Neat has concentrated his wide-ranging creativity on the act of drawing, in sketchbooks.

His prime subject is people - the common man, writers, artists, travellers, prisoners: he also addresses war, landscape, and the ancient past with visionary understanding.Of the four hundred drawings being published, only three have been publicly seen.
